The Mar del Plata Quintet is composed of five renowned musicians who, besides their personal projects, usually collaborate with each other to perform Piazzolla's works, and also the works of some other composers who had some kind of bond with him.
Piazzolla, who was an enemy of tango with his original style, believed that if the world was changing, so had to do his music. Thanks to his interest and study of classical music (mostly Bach, Bartók and Stravisky) and jazz, he found his innovative and revolutionary style, which has led him to be considered one of the best musicians of the 20th century.
While refering to the birthplace of Astor Piazzolla in the name of their group, they want to pay a great tribute to him, playing the original scores of the magnificent master with the musical training he had.
