Based in Barcelona since 1991, the Ukranian violinist Ala Voronkova alternates her career as a soloist and teacher with playing in different chamber music groups as well as playing as leader with various symphony orchestras.
An expert in Russian repertoire, (especially Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich), Ala has also specialised in Spanish, Catalan and contemporary repertoire. She has recorded the complete work for violin by Xavier Montsalvatge, who highlighted from the artist, "both the safety and purity of his technique, which allows it to address scores of greater virtuosity, as his refined musical sensibility." Ala Voronkova also teaches and has given master classes in conservatories and universities all over the world. Watching Ala Voronkova playing her instrument, a Gio Paolo Maggini (Brescia, 1600) violin is a great spectacle of passion, lyricism and virtuosity.
