Barcarola is a musician group of "habaneras" (Mediterranean sea songs). It was born on 1993 in a mediterranean village called Vilassar de Mar close to Barcelona (Spain).
We are four musicians with a large experience in "habaneras" music. Our repertoire is based on the habaneras traditional music, amenitzed with some popular sailor waltzes and tavern music... offering a enjoyable and varied show with sailor flavour.
Components: Jordi Plans (accordion and musical head), Àngels Roca (vocals and guitar), Joan Borrell (vocals) and Maties Carles (vocals).
Our name is inspired on the definition of the word "barcarolle", which is a musical composition of maritime-themed Waltz rhythm.

We have been acting all around Catalonia until 1993, including emblematic places such as La Bella Lola and Can Batlle tavern, located in Calella de Palafrugell - Girona). We have also performanced in Andorra, Valencia and The Basque Country. Some years ago, we won the segond prize of the TV3 EXIT contest with the song "La Meva àvia", an habanera composed by J.A. Carrau, one of the former members of the group.
We have launched six albums, including our last one CD which is called "Cançons al Mar" (Songs at the Mediterranean Sea).
