Brief musical biography
Joaquim Bogunyà has studied early plucked string instruments with William Waters and other well-known musicians such as Rolf Lislevand or Xavier Díaz Latorre.
A self-taught musician, has attended several courses and festivals such as Early Music Morella, organised by members of Capella de Ministrers, or Curs de Música Antiga a Catalunya, organised by members of Capella Reial de Catalunya and the ensemble Hesperion XXI.
He has performed in the four Catalan provinces with medieval music Ensemble Scandicus and Renaissance music ensemble El Canto del Cavallero, the latter formed by members of the ensemble Musica Reservata de Barcelona. Together with Francesc Llorens, is a founder member of Duo Seraphim Barcelona, which he teams today with flute player Eloi Fuguet. He has often given solo concerts, as well.
From 1999 on the Lute Society publishes several of his compositions. In the year 2001 he wins the first prize at the Lute Society's Composition Contest. Between the years 2012 and 2017, the Society publishes four books written by him for the Renaissance lute, one of them of songs for the lute and voice. The pieces are generally written in a Renaissance style but there are also some written in a baroque or in a medieval style.
He has made a CD with a full recording of all the pieces contained in his first book.
