22 years ago, Ukrainian Alan Voronkova chose our country, Spain, as her place to settle down. We have got this fortune, and from here we want to express our gratitude to this great master for all the things that she shows us, teach us and makes us to enjoy every time she plays her violin.
Because Voronkova plays a very special instrument: a Gio Paolo Maggini (Brescia 1600) violin. Hands, wood and talent, all of this united in favour of the best music.
Ala Voronkova was a prodigy child, when she was six years old she already played the violin in public, in Kiev. Very soon she progressed to Moscow, as a disciple of the mythicals Yuri Yankelevich and Nelly Shkolnikova.
After winning several international competitions and while having an amazing career at the former Soviet Union, Ala Voronkova, along her family, wished to run away from the totalitarian regime and go to Europe, specifically to Barcelona.
This way we received in Spain a prominent artist. A specialist at Russian music, at Slav school, not only for her repertoire, but also for her lyrical and passionate style when Voronkova plays her instrument.
So, if we add to that an impeccable technique and an absolute ear, we are in front of a prominent artist. One of the fews that we can find in the world.
Not for nothing Ala Voronkova is chosen constantly to premiere the contemporary composers' works. A lot of them have composed and dedicated works to her, with the guarantee that she is going to perform them exactly as they were conceived.
Only to see her technical magnitude, we recommend you to listen to her version of the 24 caprices of Paganini (DVD. Columna Música). A work which has an extreme difficulty and it is to the reach of very few people.
But Ala Voronkova doesn't stand out only for her virtuosity, but also for her phrasing and lyricism. Voronkova moves. A note is never the same to another. She stands out, explains, vibrates, feels,... and she causes to vibrate and feel.
Thanks Ala for being here. For having received and keeping receiving our young students in your classroom. The ones that still had got the chance to have the last romantics as music masters know what we are talking about: we only talk about MUSIC.
