About to take the plane to Colombia...

12/02/2015

From the teachers who give the National Singing Course at the Bogotá University, this year I have the pride to be the vocal soloist who will open this new call, making an exhibition of opera and zarzuela, with the "National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia", under the direction of the great Chilean director José Luis Domínguez.

LAUNCH OF THE NATIONAL SINGING COURSE

"WORDS AND MUSIC"

Director: José Luis Domínguez (Chile)

Soprano soloist: Rosa Mateu (Spain)

National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia

Colón Theatre / 19th February / 7:30h

"The fifth intervention of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia at the Colón Theatre in the setting of the season «From love and other demons» will be a tribute to lyrical singing. There, the Spanish soprano Rosa Mateu, under the direction of José Luis Domínguez, will be in charge of performing the works of Charles Gonoud, Antonín Dvoraky and Gerónimo Giménez, among others. In this presentation named «words and music» we will do a musical travel which will take us to the romantic opera of France and Italy, to the Spanish zarzuela and to the American musical theatre."

Programme

  • Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901): Nabucco Overture
  • Charles Gounod (1818-1893): Faust, Aria of the Jewels
  • Antonín Dvorak (1841-1904): Rusalka, Moon Song
  • Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924): Intermezzo Manon Lescaut
  • Pablo Luna (1879-1942): The Jewish Child, Coming from Spain
  • Gerónimo Giménez (1852-1923): Luis Alonso's wedding
  • Ruperto Chapí (1851-1909): Zebedeo's daughters, Jailers
  • George Gershwin (1898-1937): An American in Paris
  • Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990): West Side Story: Symphonic dances

I only want to say to you that it makes me very excited, like each year, to begin this new call of Bogotá, as a teacher of this wonderful singing course and, obviously, as a soloist at the opening concert.
