THE PIANIST QUIM BONAL TRAVELS TO LOS ANGELES

06/07/2015

Quim Bonal is going to travel this week to Los Angeles invited by the school of Music Vision Studios for advanced students. He will make two concerts: Saturday 11 July at the Lutheran church "Prince of Peace" in Covina and 18 July at "Stanway Gallery" in Pasadena.

Last year, at the month of may, the pianist was also invited to Paris by the Association Marie Jäell, school of advanced musical pedagogy, to make public to the students the Catalan music (Mompou, Granados) and the Spanish music (Turina, Falla).

This year, at Los Angeles, he will perform Variations on a Chopin theme of Mompou, the Andante teneramente Op 3, nº1 of Richard Strauss, Allegro de concierto of Granados, Nocturn 1 of Danae Vlässe and he will end the concert with Study nº16 of Philipp Glass.

As Quim Bonal himself has explained to us, the program expects to be, on one hand a tasting of Catalan, Spanish and German music, and on the other, to include authors from the country which is embracing him too. That's the reason why he plays Nocturn 1 of Danae Vlässe, American composer and director of Music Vision Studios and why the last work of the concert is a study of the minimalist composer Philipp Glass (born at 1937), author who collecting the additive rythm of Indian music has created a very personal and unique style, and who maybe is more well-known by the public for being the one who composed the soundtrack of movies as "The hours" by Stephen Daldry.

As a sample of this author's music, we leave to you a work which fascinates us and will be the one that Quim Bonal will perform at Los Angeles: the Study nº16, of Philipp Glass, in this occasion performed by the pianist Timo Andres:
